To Send to PLAXIS 2D

The first step of sending the physical cross-section to PLAXIS 2D is to define stations where a cross-section is created and specify the model boundaries. The user will navigate to Analysis And Reporting tab and select the Analytical Cross Section option. As shown below:

The command requires the following inputs:

  • Station – the station along the alignment where the user wants to create a cross-section cut, it can be graphically defined by moving the graphic line along the alignment or by directly typing the station in the input field.
  • Left/right/top/down offset – the offsets related to the WP (working point) defined in the tunnel cross-section so that a model boundary is created, having as 0,0 coordinates the coordinates of the WP.

  • After the user has created the cross sections, he can send them to PLAXIS 2D by using the command PLAXIS2D.

PLAXIS 2D

In the newly opened window, the user will be able to specify the following options:

  • Analytical Type
    • Regions - The lining parts will be created as regions.
    • Plates - The lining parts will be created as plates; an approximated (depending on the lining shape) plate thickness will be auto computed based on the area of the lining part, The user may change this value in PLAXIS after the transfer.
  • Send to PLAXIS - if the option is checked, the corresponding cross-section information will be sent to PLAXIS.
